What's In Your Clothes?

Chemicals in your clothes you need to know about and what you can do to dress safely.

Have you heard of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE's)? What about carbon disulphide? They are chemicals commonly used in clothing manufacturing and if you live in the United States, you've absorbed both into your blood stream.

Nonylphenol ethoxylates are just one of over ten chemicals that are widely being used in clothes. The chemical has the ability to mimic natural estrogen hormones and is highly toxic. It is a hormone disruptor making it difficult if not impossible to have children. It affects our reproductive system and causes infertility. It's found in major clothing brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma.

Carbon disulphide is most commonly used in the production of rayon fabric (modal-loycell-vicose-tencel). There's so much to say about the chemical that we're providing a link to an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) report: http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/hlthef/carbondi.html. We want you to see for yourself. The health problems associated with the chemical are simply too long for our article.

"CATA's" goal is to offer immediate alternatives in clean, organic and safe clothes by introducing you to the companies you've been looking for, helping you save and empowering you through knowledge.
