Wear Organic Clothing: The Dark Reality of Cheap Fashion Inside Cambodia

The cold reality of devastating practices widely used in the
textile industry to employ cheap labor.

When your clothes are made this way; they can be cheap. Are you willing to pay for the slavery and exploitation of women? This inside video of Cambodia's garment manufacturing realities is a bit hard to watch but something anyone who wears clothes should see.

What's the alternative you ask?

  • Know where your clothes are made by simply reading the label and refuse to purchase garments made in countries that employ slavery tactics, do not pay living wages, house factories in unsafe buildings, lock workers inside facilities, use fear tactics to force long hours and force people to work against their will.

  • Shop small companies committed to integrity over profits and consciousness in manufacturing.

  • Look for companies who are willing and eager to show transparency in their supply chain.  Many organic clothing companies publicly post their stories on their websites for everyone to read.  Many are doing some very positive things in an effort to clean up the dirty business of fashion as we know it.

  • Buy organic clothing and support fair trade living wage pay, chemical and toxic free environments to work in, artisan crafts where creators and makers have names and faces, and a sustainable way of life.

Organic cotton farm SOS from Texas is certified by the
Texas Department of Agriculture.

SOS t-shirts are made from organic cotton grown on our certified organic farms. We have been certified organic by the Texas Department of Agriculture since 1992. This certification information is provided with our products to show our authenticity. We are finding organic products in the market with very vague organic credentials. U.S. Organic Standards require a 3 year chemical free farming period before being allowed to be "certified organic."

We Grow Organic Cotton T-Shirts

SOS t-shirts are made from organic cotton grown on our certified organic farms. We have been certified organic by the Texas Department of Agriculture since 1992. This certification information is provided with our products to show our authenticity. We are finding organic products in the market with very vague organic credentials. U.S. Organic Standards require a 3 year chemical free farming period before being allowed to be "certified organic".
Our cotton is planted in mid-May and harvested after frost in November. The harvested cotton is ginned at our certified organic gin and then shipped to a certified mill in North Carolina for spinning into yarn. The yarn is also knitted, finished and sewn in the Carolinas. SOS products have a pedigree as we can tell you when and where they were planted and trace their development into a finished product.

SOS organic cotton products are 100% Made in the USA, "sweat shop free", by American workers being paid a fair and lawful wage. These standards do not allow for a "cheap" organic t-shirt, but a product with a very high value and quality that our customers can be proud to wear for many years.
As we grow organic cotton t-shirts, we share our land with you, our customers. SOS organic cotton is "good for man and good for the land" as these practices improve our environment, create jobs for people in rural American and keep our family farm and heritage sustainable. SOS organic cotton products are truly unique and we hope you enjoy the fruit of our land. Check out Blog for updated information and product selections.

A Little Bit of History

Organic cotton clothing from our certified organic farms.
The old picture is of our family in the fields where I now grow organic cotton. The Oldham family has been growing cotton in Texas for more than 100 years. Our grandfather broke out prairie grass to plant cotton in the rich soil. We maintain this fertility with organic farming practices which include crop rotations and enhancing the habitat for beneficial insects. Nothing synthetic is added and nothing is taken out except cotton. From this cotton, we make organic tee shirts. SOS FROM TEXAS is pleased to offer our customers the fruit of our land in our organic cotton garments. See the whole process of "growing an organic cotton t-shirt" on our youtube video.
