CATA to Participate in One Spark 2015

As One Spark approaches CATA is ready for the festivities.

Jacksonville, Florida—March 24, 2015—Consumers Against Toxic Apparel (CATA) is a company specializing in organic clothing and textiles. The goal is to create awareness about the harsh and potential life-threatening chemicals found in clothes.

During the week of One Spark, CATA will be located at the Museum of Science and History Café, 11 East Forsyth Street. The hours will be April 8-11 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and April 12 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Visithttp://www.themosh.org/science-cafe/ for more details.

Creator of CATA Patricia Davis will be giving the official One Spark Creators Pitch on Saturday April 11 at 11:20 a.m. in Hemming Park.

Exposing the Dangers of Toxic Apparel - A Tough Road

The Chemicals in our Clothes are Dangerous!

When we started this journey to expose the dangers of toxic apparel we knew it would be a tough road. We didn't know the exact challenges we would face but realized there would be many. It's hard for many to believe that companies would manufacture chemicals in our clothes that could harm us; especially our children, our babies.

 After only 8 months of launching our company we're so happy to see the list growing daily of believers and supporters. Just to give you an idea of where our information comes from we attached a link to a very comprehensive and detailed study from Sweden. This is just one of many that are conducted in the UK, Germany, European Union and others-except the USA. We find it odd that the US is so far behind on the things that matter. Important things that affect our lives and the planet in profound and devastating ways. One has to ask--do corporations, brands and industry want Americans to know the truth? 

We must warn you the report is massive but so is the problem of chemicals in our clothes.  If you care and we sincerely hope you do that's lots to learn just by reading the facts.

The cold reality of devastating practices widely used in the 

textile industry to employ cheap labor.

 When your clothes are made this way; they can be cheap. Are you willing to pay for the slavery and exploitation of women? This inside video of Cambodia's garment manufacturing realities is a bit hard to watch but something anyone who wears clothes should see.

What's the alternative you ask?  

• Know where your clothes are made by simply reading the label and refuse to purchase garments made in countries that employ slavery tactics, do not pay living wages, house factories in unsafe buildings, lock workers inside facilities, use fear tactics to force long hours and force people to work against their will.

• Shop small companies committed to integrity over profits and consciousness in manufacturing.

• Look for companies who are willing and eager to show transparency in their supply chain.  Many organic clothing companies publicly post their stories on their websites for everyone to read.  Many are doing some very positive things in an effort to clean up the dirty business of fashion as we know it.

• Buy organic clothing and support fair trade living wage pay,chemical and toxic free environments to work in, artisan crafts where creators and makers have names and faces, and a sustainable way of life.

Out of This World Organic Clothing Fashion Show Presented by CATA

Saturday, November 4th CATA Consumers Against Toxic Apparel presented Hippocrates Health Institute first organic clothing fashion show during RAW Odyssey Event.  Over 3,000 attended the the day long festival in West Palm Beach, FL.  The Institute is know worldwide for treating patients who have been diagnosed with chronic illnesses and disease by introducing a combination of raw food diets and alternative medicine therapies.   CATA represented ten organic clothing companies during the show introducing the audience to organic cotton intimate apparel, infant and kids clothes, women and men's fashion and bridal wear.
